Scoring Criteria

  • Content: Correctness and completeness of the repeated sentences.
  • Fluency: Natural flow and rhythm of speech without hesitation.
  • Pronunciation: Clarity and accuracy of spoken words, including stress and intonation.

5 Tips for PTE Repeat Sentences

  1. Repeat After the Speaker

The very first way to improve  Repeat Sentences in terms of memory is, repeat after the speaker. This is very important that you whisper it along with the speaker. So whisper it in your mind when the speaker is playing the audio so that you can improve it, and you can retain most of the content. Once you improve your memory, it will be relatively easy for you to improve on ‘PTE Repeat Sentences’.

  1. Hybrid Strategy

The second method is to use the hybrid strategy. For this, you need to improve your notes as well as your memory. This strategy is really useful because it neither keeps you in one place for your notes nor does it keep you in one place for memory. That means you use half of the notes and half of the memory.

Let us take an example-

Audio - "Students from different backgrounds can achieve a variety of qualifications."

Captured notes

This is captured notes for the first half, and then you have to memorize for the later half.  You can also memorize the first half and write the notes for the later half. It is up to you which way you want to do it.

  1. Improve Note-Taking Skills

You need to get yourself aware of note-taking skills such as shorthand notes, where you can write faster but only with writing few letters of the word.
Note-taking skills will not only help you in PTE Repeat Sentence , it will also help you in other tasks such as Summarize Spoken Text, Write from Dictation, and Listening Fill in the Blanks.

Example-

Audio - "Fees are heavily discounted and adversaries are also available for delegates."

Captured notes

You have to practice a lot, with note-taking with shorthand notes, so that you can write it faster. You can write most of the content and then remember a couple of words.

You have to start with writing the first couple of letters for every word instead of just writing the first letter. Write at least two to three letters so you can write them down when you open the answer.

When you have written down the abbreviations instead of the first letter, it will help you to retain it faster, and you will be able to get the content faster.

4. Practice Consistently

Consistency is key to PTE Repeat Sentences. Utilize MP3 tools for consistent practice. Use MP3 audio player available at Vision Language Experts platform, where you can set the  'Repeat Sentences' exercises to play at specific intervals. This allows continuous practice without manual intervention. You can set the interval as 0 seconds, 3 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds & 15 seconds between each sentence playback. This gives you enough time to repeat the sentence before the next one starts.

  1. Be Aware of Accents and Way of Speaking

Accents can be challenging sometimes. To deal with this, understand different English accents through different media. Listen to news channels like BBC News and watch movies in English to understand different accents. Listen to podcasts in different accents regularly to improve your comprehension and repetition skills. By familiarizing yourself with different accents, you will find it easier to understand and repeat sentences correctly during the exam.
