PTE Writing | Achieve Full Marks with a Universal Template

PTE exam patterns change frequently, and many students struggle with scoring full marks in the writing section. The big question is: How can you get 15 out of 15 in essay writing? Are templates still effective? The answer is yes, but only if used correctly.

Hello everyone, this is Vishal from VLE, and in this guide, I will share a universal template that works for every essay. I will also explain how to use this template effectively for different types of questions.

Understanding PTE Essay Writing Structure

Before we dive into the template, it is important to understand the time and word limits in PTE essay writing.

  • Total time: 20 minutes
  • Word limit: 200-300 words
  • Penalty for exceeding the word limit

Your first step is to read and analyze the question carefully. Spend 20-30 seconds understanding what the question is actually asking.

Types of PTE Essay Questions

  1. Problem-Solution Essays
    • Example: "What do you think is the most pressing problem for the inhabitants of our planet? Provide a solution."
    • Focus: Identify one major problem and provide one clear solution.
  2. Opinion-Based Essays
    • Example: "To what extent do you think the statements are realistic?"
    • Focus: Clearly agree or disagree with supporting arguments.
  3. Balanced Argument Essays
    • Example: "Some universities deduct student marks for late assignment submission. What is your opinion? Suggest alternative actions."
    • Focus: Express agreement or disagreement, then provide alternative solutions.

The Universal PTE Essay Template

Now, let's break down the perfect essay structure that you can use for any PTE essay.

Introduction

  • Start with: "One of the most controversial issues in today’s world is..." (Insert the main topic here).
  • State your position: "I firmly agree/disagree with this statement."
  • Mention key points: "This essay will discuss the advantages/disadvantages of this topic and reach a logical conclusion."

Body Paragraph 1 (Positive/Supportive Arguments)

  • "There are a number of arguments in favor of my stance."
  • Use relevant keywords: "The positive aspects come from the fact that..."
  • Include examples: "For instance, implementing strict regulations on factories can help reduce pollution and control global warming."

Body Paragraph 2 (Counterarguments or Alternative Solutions)

  • "On the other hand, some people argue that..."
  • Explain opposing views and provide counterpoints.
  • If the question requires solutions, add them here.

Conclusion

  • Summarize key arguments: "In view of the arguments outlined above..."
  • Reaffirm your opinion: "It is evident why many support/oppose this view."

How to Use Keywords Effectively

Using the right keywords is crucial for a high score. Instead of generic words, use strong verbs and phrases like:

  • Increasing, enhancing, reducing, improving (For positive points)
  • Declining, deteriorating, restricting, limiting (For negative points)

Example: Instead of writing "Governments should take action to reduce pollution," write "Implementing strict regulations on industries can significantly reduce environmental degradation."
